Winter Solstice 2013

Winter Solstice is a big event for many cultures.   In ancient China, this day means that  farmers could lay down their tools and return home to their families. A feast would be prepared to mark the occasion.  A special dessert made of a sweet soup with Glutinous Balls is prepared and everyone is expected to have a bowl of this soup; known as Tang Yuan. This is also the day that they add a year to your age.

Today, I found an interesting article about Winter Solstice 2013, which is tomorrow (22nd December).
Let’s see what they say :

Love and the Dragon Zodiac

DRAGON
Born: 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000
Characteristics: Dragons can be eccentric and may choose to lead a complex life. Generally active and intelligent, they have a very passionate nature and are known to be extremely lucky. Often proud by nature, the Dragon has very high standards and is also ambitious and determined. As Dragons have big dreams about how life should be, they can take a longer than others to decide about love and marriage.

Love for the Dragon Man
The male Dragon finds it hard to resist helping a maiden in distress or anyone else for that matter. He tends to fall in love rather quickly, but relationships are usually short-lived as the male Dragon has very high expectations of his women. He also has a soft spot for very beautiful and intelligent women.

Love for the Dragon Woman
The female Dragon is a very strong woman. She believes in herself and if she comes across injustice will not give in without a fight. The female Dragon has fine tastes and is very elegant. When it comes to love, she is totally committed but can self-sabotage due to her high expectations and personal ambitions for perfection.

2012 and the 5 Dragons!

Water Dragon (1952 & 2012)

You are the most easy-going of the Dragon group. Each zodiac will go through a 60-year cycle before it repeats itself and this is the repeated year for you. your self repeating year. To make the most of this year, you need to look after your well-being, keep to an easy going lifestyle and adopt a flexible attitude towards work. ( if you are still working). Financially, this is a stable year so enjoy your journey in 2012!

Wood Dragon (1964)
Wood Dragons are practical, creative and deep thinkers. There will be hidden potentials this year but you must be patient. For a start, 2012 will move rather slowly for you. If you allow this to set you back then it is likely that you will see little achievement. New careers are indicated. Financially, this will be a steady year for many.

Fire Dragon (1978)
You are ambitious and have a tremendous will to succeed and 2012 will have an interesting course laid out for you. Understand that energy will not be moving as fast as your wish so do not be frustrated by it. Family and love ones will be supportive, you can look forward to a harmonious time with them this year. You will have the tendencies to overspend.

Earth Dragon (1988)
You are the quieter one of the 5 types of dragon and have very clear objective of what you wish to achieve in life. While this year favours movement and development, you will find it difficult to manage. Many of you will wish to make changes to your career or business, be patient and network as you will find these opportunities by chance.

Metal Dragon (1940, 2000)

You are strong-willed and can be forceful. While this year does hold possibilities of expansion to those who are in business you will need to inform your partners and family of you plans. Rushing out to make changes or take on new ventures by yourself will bring negative results.

About Tarot

In the last two decade, the use of tarot and interest in its history has become increasingly popular. The history of Tarot has many interesting facts and myths and are often confusing.  There are also much speculations on where and when the tarot first originated? Some say India, China, Egypt, Morocco and some have even suggested that it exits in the time of Moses. However, no modern historians have backed up the above these theories.

The original deck came from Northern Italy around 1420-1440 painted for the Duke of Milan by Bonificio Bembo and this deck is still in existence. It has been said that another deck was originally used in France in the 13 th century but it was later found to be the Card of Triumps or Trumps, a common game amongst the people during that era. Incidentally, that was why the Tarot was originally known as “Cards de trionfi” or Trumps. It only became to be known as Tarrochi or Tarrok in German about 100 years later. Although I suspect that the images and use was probably very different.

The traditional Tarot is a deck of 78 cards that is divided into two main sections: Major Arcana  and Minor Arcana cards. The Major Arcana is a set of 22 picture cards, these cards are symbolic representations of the different stages of our lives. Example of the are cards like the Death, Justice, Strength, Star and etc. The Fifty-six cards of the Minor Arcana are divided into 4 suits which are similar to our normal playing cards. They are the suits of the Minor Arcana are the Wands, Pentacles, Swords and the Cups. The Minor Arcana cards can represent people, relationships, finances, health, careers and etc.

When an individual consults the tarot, it describes the events and qualities of the present. Each card in the tarot has up-sides and down sides in meanings; essentially there are no bad cards just perhaps some bad interpretations. They reflect the inner quality and hidden information that are personal to the individual. It sheds inner wisdom that will them the freedom of choice to decide the path to take to reach desired goals and destinations.

A professional Tarot session therefore can be encouraging, inspiring and good for the self esteem simply because it focuses on *you* and your needs. Certainly, I claim no “one time fix all magical solution” to your life challenges. It is simply an effective way to give you insights and clarity that will help you in decision making by offering suggestions and possible outcome.
